Dream high! Pisay!

This post is to show my support on Sir Martin’s project. Sir Martin is teaching Social Studies in Philippine Science High School. He gave a project to his students which made them release their talents that in some way inspire many people by unearthing their eyes to future reality.

The theme is about future! Philippines in the future. Filipinos of the future. Pisay meets the world.

In this world, dreaming is free. But to achieve our dreams, we have to work hard for it. They don’t just come real in a blink of an eye. Unless you’re just dreaming of winning the lottery. But that’s not what I meant ‘Dreams’. For me, dream is something you really want to have or do that when you achieve it, will really make you proud and overflow your happiness. When dreams come true, it can’t be forgotten. That’s what I call dream.

On Pisay Meets World project, students show their creativity via different media. (blog, video, etc.). Each entry is listed on Pisay Meets World blog. One of the hippests entry is the “We Hold The Future.” So far I just watched 3 entries and they are also good.

The video depicts the dreams of young men and women, the youth of today, who will be the leaders of tomorrow. As citizens of the country, more so scholars of the country, they should take it upon themselves to emulate the highest degree of being responsible citizens. Dream big, and be tomorrow’s leaders, Pisay students. Meet the world!

To the Students:

You did a great job. But I hope you didn’t just to this for the project; For the grades. I hope that you did this by heart and you really meant what you just showed on your entries. It is very warming to see that students also care for the future. You’re still young and we know that not too far, the success that you want is waiting. Don’t waste any chance of getting there.

I wanna share you this very simple, very straightforward… 10 words, 2 letters each. very meaningful. I heard this from my instructor on EBW 101.

IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME “

Now, I want you to put that in mind.

I also suggest you to watch ” The Pursuit of Happyness “, if you haven’t yet. That really inspires me and I hope it’ll inspire you too.

In the movie, Chris Gardner (Will Smith) said to his son.

You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can’t do it. You want something? Go get it. Period.

Another movie I would suggest is ” Pay It Forward! ” Like you, there’s a grade school class in a sub-urban area, that were given an assignment by their teacher. The assignment says,

“Think of a thing that can change the world and make it into action.”

What a little boy did? He make good deeds to 2 or 3 people, and instead of taking a payback, he told these people to pay it forward. Means, they have to do good deeds to 2 or 3 other people as well and don’t take a payback, and so on… Like virus, it spread out to different countries. And certainly changed the world.

  1. Perfectly said, Mr. Nice Ash. I hope our Pisay students will take the matter seriously, not just as a class project, as you mentioned, but a crusade to be emulated by our youth of today. Our country needs change. If our country is to move forward, we have to start with our youth, NOW!

  2. exactly!

i’m not done yet with my post and you already commented. 🙂

  3. Thanks for the comment and this blogpost!

Rest assured that most of them are not doing this purely for the grades. A lot of them really took it into heart. I didn’t give them much parameters for the project, so how they responded to the theme was really up to them. And the first question they had after I gave out their marks was, “Sir, can we continue updating?”

And of course, that is the whole point. 🙂

I always tell them that for whatever it is they’re doing, they must keep the passion alive. If they do, then the future is in good hands. 🙂

  4. excitement perhaps? don’t worry, i have read it in full now! 🙂

  5. Thank you very much for your comment Sir! 😀
